We’ve Been Planning Weddings for a While. It’s Time We Told Some Stories.

We’ve been meaning to start this blog for a while now. But between planning weddings, running a business, and telling ourselves we should start a blog, another season would come around.

So here we are, finally putting some of our own stories into words. And what better time to start than the beginning of a new season!

I wanted this space to feel personal. While our website gives you a glimpse of the weddings we’ve created and the services we provide, so much happens beyond the photographs and checklists. There are months of conversations, decisions that need a few rounds of discussion, people quietly making things happen, and moments we’re still talking about long after the wedding is over.

Those are the stories I want to share here… the lessons we’ve carried with us and the discoveries we’re still making.

A little about us

If you’re new here, I’m Ayesha, and together with my co-founder, Joshua, I run Pataka Events.

I can’t talk about Pataka without talking about the people who’ve helped us build it. There is so much care in this work that clients may never see directly: checking details again, finding a solution before a problem reaches them, and countless little things that help everything come together. I see that effort, and I’m so proud of it.

As a team, we share a strong sense of responsibility towards the weddings we take on. We make it a point to get to know the families, their priorities, and often their apprehensions. By the time the celebrations begin, we’ve spent months working towards something that matters deeply to them. Of course we’re invested.

The things you learn along the way

Over the years, our work has taken us to some beautiful properties and destinations across India. There are definitely moments when I stop, look around, and think, “Okay, this is a pretty lovely place to be working today.” During wedding season, we get some rather beautiful offices.

I always tell my team that every wedding is a new experience. Everything is happening in real time, with real people and real emotions. There are no retakes.

Every wedding has taught me something – about a destination, a tradition, a family dynamic, or how differently two people can interpret the words “minimal” and “nothing over the top.”

We’ve had wonderful relationships with clients. Some have felt effortless; others have taught us to ask better questions and have the difficult conversations sooner. We’ve also learnt to look at ourselves and recognise what we could have handled better.

Every wedding adds something to how we approach the next one.

About that little thing called trust…

One thing I’ve come to appreciate more with every wedding is how much the relationship with a couple and their families shapes the whole experience. There’s something special about being able to speak honestly, exchange ideas, challenge perspectives, and trust each other’s intentions.

We thrive on that. When clients trust our expertise and give us room to put our experience and ideas to work, it brings so much energy to the process. That trust also gives us an even stronger sense of responsibility to deliver.

Looking ahead…

Over the next few years, I want us to explore new places, push ourselves creatively, and keep making weddings feel personal to the people getting married.

Just as much, I want our team to grow with us. They put so much into this company, and I want them to feel proud of what we’re building together.

A new season, and finally, a first post

Our first wedding of the season gave me the push to finally write this. Before getting into the celebration itself, I wanted to talk about the people and the trust that made it one of my favourite experiences in this work.

I’ve been fortunate to work with some truly lovely clients over the years, and this wedding gave me another reason to be grateful.

The story of our season opener is coming next. For now, a slightly overdue hello from me and everyone at Pataka.

Love & Light, Ayesha
